Absolute configuration of the most potent isomer of the pyrethroid insecticide α-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl cis-3-(2,2-dibromovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate by crystal structure analysis

Abstract

The absolute configuration of the title compound has been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Crystals are orthorhombic, space group P212121, with Z= 4 in a unit cell of dimensions: a= 12.319(10), b= 27.170(26), c= 6.294(5)Å. Intensity data were collected on a diffractometer and the structure solved by standard methods and refined to R 0.070 for 616 observed reflections. The absolute configuration about the benzylic α-carbon atom is (S); the conformation of the molecule is discussed.
