Electron spin resonance study of the reactions of hydrogen atoms in aqueous sulphuric acid glasses. Part 3.—Reaction with biochemicals containing sulphur
Abstract
Reactions of hydrogen atoms with biochemicals containing sulphur in vitreous 6 mol dm–3 sulphuric acid have been studied using electron spin resonance and optical transmission data. The radicals formed from cysteine, cystine, homocysteine, homocystine, cysteic acid, penicillamine, methionine, ethionine and djenkolic acid are discussed. Evidence is presented which suggests u.v.- induced electron transfer from FeII to RSSR species.
