Electron spin resonance study of the reactions of hydrogen atoms in aqueous sulphuric acid glasses. Part 4.—Reaction with simple peptides
Abstract
Reactions of hydrogen atoms with simple peptides have been studied in vitreous 6 mol dm–3 sulphuric acid. The species —NHĊRCO2H is the predominant one formed from glycylglycine, glycylalanine, alanylglycine and reduced glutathione. Both (CH3)2ĊCH2— and —NHĊRCO2H species are identifiable from leucylglycine and leucylalanine. The radicals derived from glycyl-leucine, glycylglycylglycine, leucylglycylglycine, hydantoin, glycine anhydride and oxidised glutathione are also discussed.
