Solvothermal synthesis and characterization of two novel europium thioantimonates(III) containing [SbIIIS3] unit as an unusual chelating ligand

Abstract

Two novel europium thioantimonates [Eu(dien)2SbS3] (1) and {[Eu(dien)2]24-Sb2S5)}Cl2 (2) (dien = diethylenetriamine) have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions. 1 contains neutral europium-centred complexes, where the unusual [SbIIIS3]3 anion acts as a chelating ligand to complex [Eu(dien)2]3+, while 2 consists of unusual thioantimonate cations and Cl anions. The optical properties of 1 and 2 have been investigated by UV-vis spectra.
