Encapsulation of LnIII ions/Ag nanoparticles within Cd(ii) boron imidazolate frameworks for tuning luminescence emission

Abstract

Two Cd(II) boron imidazolate frameworks (BIF-80/81) with different topologies have been synthesized by the targeted assembly of aromatic carboxylate, tetradentate imidazolate ligands, possessing tunable luminescence emission properties. Hydroxy-functional neutral BIF-80 shows an obvious blue shift of luminescence after loading Ag nanoparticles (NPs) while the first reported anionic BIF-81 in the BIF system with blue emission can tune the white-light emission via doping mixed Ln3+ in an appropriate ratio (Ln = Eu and Tb).
