Aerosol fabrication of hollow mesoporous silicananoparticles and encapsulation of l-methionine as a candidate drug cargo

Abstract

Hollow spherical nanoparticles with ordered mesoporous silica shells were fabricated by evaporation-induced self-assembly using (NH4)2SO4 and cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) as templates. The model drug, L-methionine, was encapsulated within the spherical void at high loadings by repeated crystallization.
