The isolation and characterization of a new class of mixed-valence dirhenium alkylidyne complexes

Abstract

The structural identity of the novel mixed-valence dirhenium alkylidyne complexes [(L)ClRe(µ-Cl)(µ-CO)(µ-dppm)2Re([triple bond, length half m-dash]CCH2R)]Cl (dppm = Ph2PCH2PPh2; L = Co or xylNC; R. = Prn or Bun) formed viathe ring-opening reaction of the 3-metallafuran complexes [Re2(µ-Cl){µCOCH(R)CH}Cl2(L)(µ-dppm)2]PF6, is established by an X-ray structure determination of the derivative where L = xylNC and R = Prn.
