Abstract

Mechanistic studies on the pincer-Ru (^Cy2NNN)RuCl₂PPh₃ catalysed dehydrogenative coupling of ethanol to ethyl acetate involving an inner sphere, metal-centred mechanism, suggest alcoholysis as the rate-limiting step, with a barrier of 21.3 kcal mol⁻¹.
