A tetranuclear lanthanum–nickel hydrido complex supported by an arene-anchored bis(phosphinomethylamido) ligand

Abstract

Tetranuclear La(III)–Ni(0) iodide and hydride complexes featuring a Ni(0)→La(III) dative bond were synthesized and characterized using NMR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and computational analysis. The hydrido complex showed insertion reactivity with carbodiimide and isonitrile, while its reaction with p-tolunitrile led to a cyanide complex via C–N bond cleavage.
