Preparation of homoporous poly(4-methyl-1-pentene) membrane by a special liquid surface spreading method with organic solvent as base liquid

Abstract

This study presents an organic/organic liquid surface spreading methodology by spreading poly(4-methyl-1-pentene) (PMP) cyclohexane solution on dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), using which homoporous membranes with a narrow pore size distribution (PSD) were successfully prepared. Facilely tailored by spreading time, base liquid temperature, polymer concentration, and solvent of polymer solution, the membranes exhibit narrow PSD and excellent desalination performance, offering a facile strategy for preparing high-performance porous membranes.
