A facile and efficient preparation of prism[6]arene and its dual responsive complexation with 1-adamantane ammonium tetrakis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)-phenyl]borate

Abstract

Herein, we report a facile and efficient preparation of prism[6]arene (P6) using the condensation of 2,6-diethoxy-1,5-bis(methoxymethyl)naphthalene catalyzed by p-toluenesulfonic acid. Meanwhile, the host–guest property is investigated using 1-adamantane ammonium tetrakis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)-phenyl]borate (G) as the guest. Interestingly, the complexation between P6 and G showed both Cl/Ag+ and pH responsiveness.
