Advances in the application of novel carbon nanomaterials in illicit drug detection

Abstract

New carbon nanomaterials include carbon dots, graphene, and carbon nanotubes. Because of their high specific surface area, good electrical conductivity, high stability, and strong adsorption ability to illicit drug compounds, they are highly valuable in the field of illicit drug detection. This paper reviews the development of new carbon nanomaterials and the application of these materials combined with various sensing technologies in the field of illicit drug detection. It specifically introduces the preparation methods of new carbon nanomaterials, the mechanism of illicit drug recognition, and the application of new carbon nanomaterials in illicit drug detection. Second, the advantages and shortcomings of the three types of carbon nanomaterials in the field of illicit drug detection are compared and summarized. At the same time, to promote illicit drug detection as the first link in the anti-illicit drug work chain, the functional optimization and direction of development of new carbon nanomaterials are summarized from the perspective of crime scene detection and public safety.
