Carbon-supported Co/Co3O4 hybrid catalyst: an efficient non-noble metal catalyst for the hydrodeoxygenation of vanillin†
Abstract
Developing Co-based catalysts with high efficiency and low cost is significant for the efficient hydrodeoxygenation of biomass-derived vanillin to 2-methoxy-4-methylphenol (MMP). Herein, a unique carbon-supported Co/Co3O4 hybrid catalyst (Co–Co3O4/C-230), where both metallic Co and defective Co3O4 were important, was designed and fabricated for this transformation with a yield of 98.3% at 100 °C.
