Facile synthesis of Cu2MoS4 nanosheet/multi-walled carbon nanotube composites as a high-efficiency electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution
Abstract
The rational design and preparation of low-cost and high-performance electrocatalysts are critical for hydrogen production. Herein, a novel Cu2MoS4/MWCNT electrocatalyst was synthesized by utilizing a facile and environmentally friendly solvothermal method. The as-obtained Cu2MoS4/MWCNTs could act as a high-efficiency electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) with a small Tafel slope of 48 mV dec−1 and a low overpotential of 247 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm−2. The high HER performance of Cu2MoS4/MWCNTs could be attributed to their large electrochemical surface area (ECSA), their unique conductive structure and the strong interfacial interaction between Cu2MoS4 and MWCNTs.
