A pillar[5]arene-calix[4]pyrrole enantioselective receptor for mandelate anion recognition

Abstract

A novel pillar[5]arene-calix[4]pyrrole macrocyclic compound (PC) featuring anion recognition and host–guest properties was designed and synthesized. This novel macrocycle receptor can be enantioseparated into planar chiral enantiomers that bind R- and S-mandelate guests with an enantioselectivity factor of 2.47.
