Successful synthesis of distinct dendritic unimolecular initiators suitable for topologically attractive star polymers

Abstract

Unimolecular initiator end-capped and anchored dendrimers with an initiator functionality of up to 48 for G4 dendrimer were prepared quantitatively in a single-step reaction. Polymerization of styrene using these initiators yielded multi arm star polymers with mol. weight (Mw) in the order of 105 g mol−1 and polydispersity of arm in the range of 1.01 to 1.09.
