Selective extradiol cleavage of catechol achieved in organized assemblies using [Fe(BPA)Cl3] (BPA = bis(pyridylmethyl)amine)

Abstract

The complex [Fe(L)Cl3], where L is bis(pyridylmethyl)amine, yields 89% of intradiol products and traces of extradiol products in DMF, but yields 84% of extradiol products in SDS micellar medium, illustrating the attainment of regioselective catechol cleavage.
