20  New compounds and structures in the solid state

Abstract

Structural and synthetic solid state chemistry has continued to flourish during 2004. A notable highlight was the use of ionic liquids and eutectic mixtures in the synthesis of the SIZ series of templated aluminophosphate amd aluminofluorophospate zeolite and zeotype materials. Another synthetic innovation of note was the use of supercritical fluid reaction media in the synthesis of the vanadium germanates, LiVGe2O6 and NaVGe2O6. In keeping with previous reports, this review will provide a broad overview of the most significant developments reported in the literature over the last year and focus on new compounds, with new structures and containing extended inorganic lattices.
