Application of glow discharge optical emission spectrometry in the steel industry

Abstract

GD-OES has been applied to a wide variety of coated and uncoated steel products. Some examples refer to off-line production assistance or to applications for customer support. In such cases most often qualitative information is sufficient. The examples also demonstrate the ease of the technique to solve problems where other techniques would be much more time consuming, more expensive, or would even fail. However, in most case studies, the combination of GD-OES with complementary techniques is required.
