Kinetics of phosphodiester hydrolysis by lanthanide ions in weakly basic solutions

Abstract

Lanthanide(III) cations in aqueous Bis-tris propane buffer remained stable at elevated pH values and at pH 9.0 catalyzed the hydrolysis of several phosphodiester substrates 103 times more efficiently than in neutral solutions.
