Novel porphyrin–viologen rotaxanes

Abstract

A new porphyrin-containing host has an exceptionally high affinity for viologen guests, with binding constants as high as Kass = 7 × 106M1 in organic solvents, allowing the construction of porphyrin–viologen rotaxanes.
