Protonation of Very Strong Bases by Phenols in Non-aqueous Solutions

Abstract

The interactions between the very strong proton sponge bases 7-methyl-1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene (MTBD) and Phosphazene Base, P 2 Et, and phenols of varying strength were studied in non-aqueous solutions using UV–VIS and IR spectroscopy.
