Structural characterization of C70O. Remarkable disorder in crystalline [(η2-C70O)Ir(CO)Cl(PPh3)2]·5C6H6

Abstract

X-Ray diffraction data on [(η2-C70O)Ir(CO)Cl(PPh3)2] show that the epoxide structure is present with the oxygen atom disordered over two sites, the C70 portion is also disordered with two different orientations of the long fullerene axis; the results are consistent with the presence of two isomers of C70O which have been separated by high-pressure liquid chromatography.
