Insertion of X[double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]Y heteroallenes into unsupported Zr–M bonds (M = Fe, Ru)

Abstract

The unsupported early–late heterobimetallics HC(SiMe2NC6H4F-2)3Zr–M(CO)2(η-C5H5)(M = Fe 1, Ru 2) undergo highly selective reactions with X[double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]Y heteroallenes to yield the insertion products HC(SiMe2NC6H4F-2)3Zr(XYC)M(CO)2(η-C5H5)(X = O, S; Y = O, S, NR); single-crystal X-ray structure analyses of HC(SiMe2NC6H4F-2)3Zr(S2C)Fe(CO)2(η-C5H5) 4 and HC(SiMe2NC6H4F-2)3Zr(SCNPh)Fe(CO)2(η-C5H5) 10 establish the mode of coordination of the substrates to the two metal centres.
