End-on bonding of a Te32– polytelluride chain to a transition-metal fragment: synthesis and structure of [K(2,2,2-crypt)]2[Cr(CO)5Te3]·0.5C2N2H8 and [K(2,2,2-crypt)]2[{Cr(CO)5}2Te2]

Abstract

The reaction of K2Te4 with different stoichiometries of [Cr(CO)6] and 2,2,2-crypt (4,7,13,16,21,24-hexaoxa-1,10-diazabicyclo[8.8.8]hexacosane) in en(ethylenediamine) gives dark brown plates of [K(2,2,2-crypt)]2[Cr(CO)5Te3]·0.5C2N2H8 and orange needles of [K(2,2,2-crypt)]2[{Cr(CO)5}2Te2] which are characterized by X-ray crystallography and IR spectroscopy.
