A chloroalkyne complex from the coupling of alkylidyne and carbonyl ligands

Abstract

Whilst the reaction of cis[W([triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)Br(CO)2(PPh3)2](R = C6H4Me-4) with K[HB(pz)3](pz = pyrazol-1-yl) provides [W([triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)(CO)2{HB(pz)3}], photolysis of the same complex leads to the trans isomer, which with K[HB(pz)3] provides initially [W(η2-OCCR)(CO)(PPh3){HB(pz)3}] 2b; subsequent treatment with Cl2PPh3leads to the chloroalkyne complex [W(η2-ClC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)Cl(CO){HB(pz)3}]4;the crystal structure of 2b and 4 are also reported.
