Reaction of CH2(Ph2PSe)2 with [Ru3(CO)12]. Crystal structure of [Ru4Se4(CO)10(Ph2PCH2PPh2)], a missing link in the [M4E4L12] cubane series (M = Group 8 metal, E = chalcogenido ligand)

Abstract

The bis(Phosphine selenide) CH2(Ph2PSe)2 and [Ru3(CO)12](1 : 1) reacted in toluene to give [Ru33-Se)2(CO)7(dppm)], [Ru44-Se)2(CO)9(dppm)] and [Ru43-Se)4(CO)10(dppm)](dppm = Ph2PCH2PPh2), the last of which is the first reported 72-electron Ru–Se cubane-like cage complex.
