Cyclisation and aromatisation of carotenoids during sediment diagenesis

Abstract

A novel diaryl isoprenoid with an additional aromatic ring (C40H58), formed from the diaromatic carotenoid isorenieratene by cyclisation and aromatisation during sediment diagenesis, is identified in carbonaceous sedimentary rocks.
