Electron distribution in the excited state of [(OC)5W(4,4′-bipy)W(CO)5](4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridyl) determined by time-resolved infrared spectroscopy

Abstract

Employing fast time-resolved infrared (TRIR) spectroscopy, the pattern of the ν(CO) IR bands in the lowest excited state of [(OC)5W(4,4′-bipy)W(CO)5](4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridyl) shows that the electron distribution in this state is localised on the IR time-scale.
