Self-assembly of single-(Cd4O4) and double-cube (Cd7O8) and stellated-octahedron (Cd6O8)[Cdn(C6F5)2n–p(moe)p] complexes (moe = 2-methoxyethanolate) and the X-ray crystal structures of [n,p]=[4,4], [7,8] and [6,8]
Abstract
Depending on the relative amount of MeOCH2CH2OH (Hmoe), the partial alcoholysis of [Cd(C6F5)2] affords the complexes [Cd4(C6F5)4(moe)8], [Cd7(C6F5)6(moe)8] and [Cd6(C6F5)4(moe)8] which have {Cd4(µ3-OR)4}4+, {Cd7(µ3-OR)8}6+ and {Cd6(µ3-OR)8}4+ cores, respectively; several further multinuclear Cd2+–C6F5––moe– species appear in the Cl-mass spectra of these complexes.
