The synthesis and characterisation of the octaruthenium–benzene cluster [Ru8H4(CO)186-C6H6)]

Abstract

The reaction of cyclohexene, C6H10, with Ru3(CO)12 yields the new octaruthenium–benzene cluster [Ru8H4(CO)186-C6H6)] which has been fully characterised in solution by conventional spectroscopic methods and in the solid state by a single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.
