A new route to 2(5H)-furanones via ruthenium-catalysed oxidative cyclocarbonylation of allylic alcohols

Abstract

Several 2(5H)-furanones are readily prepared in moderate to high yields by ruthenium-catalysed oxidative cyclocarbonylation of 1,1-disubstituted allyl alcohols.
