Sulfonyl subnstituted tricarbonyl(η6-arene)chromium(0) complexes may be prepared by thermolysis of sulfonyl substituted arenes with Cr(CO)6/BuOAc and/or selective oxidation of sulfenyl substituted tricarbonyl(η6-arene)chromium(0) complexes with cumene hydroperoxide in the presence of a Ti(OPri)4/diethyl tartrate/H2O catalyst.
