Synthesis and reactions of 1,6-diphosphabicyclo[4.4.0]decane and related molecules

Abstract

1,6-Diphosphabicyclo[4.4.0]decane, prepared by way of the cyclisation of 1,4-diphosphinobutane to give 1,2-diphosphacyclohexane, prefers a cis-structure to accommodate the long P–P bond; some reactions of this and related bicyclic diphosphines are reported including the conversion into water-sensitive dimethylated dications.
