Photolysis of phenylphosphinic azides having ortho alkyl substituents: intramolecular nitrene insertion into C–H bonds

Abstract

Dihydrobenzazaphosphole oxides (e.g.6) are important products in the photochemical reactions of phosphinic azides having P-mesityl or P-(2,4,6,-triisopropylphenyl) groups, suggesting that PV nitrenes are not necessarily averse to intramolecular insertion.
