Ab initio MO calculations show that F2PN is remarkably stable, lying about 70 kJ mol–1 lower in energy than its conventional valence isomer difluoro-iminophosphane (FP![[double bond, length half m-dash]](https://www.rsc.org/images/entities/char_e006.gif)
NF) and could thus be a candidate for an actual synthesis in the laboratory.
