A novel cyclodimerization of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds promoted by ytterbium metal

Abstract

Ytterbium metal has been used to promote cyclodimerization of α,β-unsaturated ketones and esters, leading to cyclopentanol, cyclopentanone, or cyclohexanone derivatives, regio- and stereo-selectively.
