Development of a polycrystalline fluoride ion-selective electrode
Abstract
A method is described for the production of polycrystalline fluoride ion-selective electrodes, which employs inexpensive equipment and materials. Electrodes produced by this technique have sensitivities similar to the conventional device made from a single crystal of LaF3. The devices require dry storage prior to use and, although they lose sensitivity after a short period of time when immersed in solution, they are suitable when a disposable sensor is required, for example, in some biosensing applications.
