Mixed rhenium–gold polyhydrides that contain ReAu and ReAu2 cores

Abstract

The reactions between [ReH5(PPh3)3] and [Au(PR3)]PF6(R = Et or Ph) in acetone–CH2Cl2 give the complexes [ReH5(PPh3)3{Au(PR3)}]PF6. Treatment of [ReH5(PPh3)3{Au(PPh3)}]PF6 with NEt3 affords the ReAu2 cluster [ReH4(PPh3)3{Au(PPh3)}2]PF6. The complexes have been characterized by 1H n.m.r., 31P-{1H} n.m.r., and i.r. spectroscopies as well as by cyclic voltammetry.
