The fluoro(perfluoroalkylnitrile)noble-gas(II) cations, RFC[triple bond, length half m-dash]N–NgF+(Ng = Kr or Xe; RF= CF3, C2F5, n-C3F7), and the fluoro(trifluoro-s-triazine)xenon(II) cation, s-C3F3N2N–XeF+; novel noble gas–nitrogen bonds

Abstract

Three novel examples of Kr–N bonds derived from perfluoroalkylnitriles, the RFC[triple bond, length half m-dash]N–KrF+ cations, and their xenon analogues RFC[triple bond, length half m-dash]N–XeF+(RF= CF3, C2F5, n-C3F7), have been prepared and characterized in BrF5 solvent by 19F and 129Xe n.m.r. spectroscopy; the Xe–N bonded cation s-C3F3N2N–XeF+, synthesized as the AsF6 salt, is stable at room temperature and has been fully characterized by 129Xe and 19F n.m.r. and Raman spectroscopy.
