Formation of a rhenium benzyne derivative by facile ligand-induced ortho-hydrogen abstraction in a homoleptic rhenium aryl; X-ray crystal structure of Re(η2-2-MeC6H3)(2-MeC6H4)2(PMe2Ph)2

Abstract

The rhenium benzyne complexes Re(η2-2-MeC6H3)(2-MeC6H4)2(PMe2R)2(R = Me or Ph) are formed at low temperature by reaction of Re(2-MeC6H4)4 with PMe2R; the PMe2Ph derivative has been characterized by X-ray crystallography.
