Hydroxo at the heart of a hydrophobic cavity: a square planar Cu4O assembly

Abstract

The product of the action of O2 on a dinuclear macrocyclic complex is shown, by X-ray crystallographic structure determination, to consist of a planar Cu4O assembly incorporated in a near-spherical complex ion.
