A new pathway for photobleaching of [fac-Re(bpy)(CO)3Br](bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) by triethylamine: ethylation of the bipyridine ligand

Abstract

Irradiation of [fac-Re(bpy)(CO)3Br] and triethylamine in N,N-dimethylformamide resulted in photobleaching of the complex to give the 5-ethyl-2,2′-bipyridine complex (2), the formation of which was affected by either Br or water.
