Synthesis of a metal-free three-co-ordinate phosphorus(V) hydride and its conversion into a phospha-alkene via reductive hydride shift

Abstract

The reaction of CIP[[double bond, length half m-dash]C(SiMe3)2]2 with PriMgCl affords the phospha-allene HP[[double bond, length half m-dash]C(SiMe3)2]2, which isomerises to the phospha-alkene, (Me3Si)2CHP[double bond, length half m-dash]C(SiMe3)2, via a reductive hydride shift.
