Abstract

The Na reduction of cpZrCl3(cp = cyclopentadienyl) in the presence of a slight excess of dmpe [dmpe = bis(dimethylphosphino)ethane] and a catalytic amount of naphthalene leads to the formation of cpZrCl(dmpe)2(45% yield) whose structure has been determined by X-ray analysis.
