Radiochemical solvent extraction of tellurium(IV) using a 127Te tracer

Abstract

A radiochemical solvent extraction separation which can be used in the determination of tellurium is proposed using 127Tem as the tracer. The method is based on the complexation of TeIV with sodium diethyl-dithiocarbamate at pH 10 or 8.5 and subsequent extraction with chloroform or 4-methylpentan-2-one. The method is applicable in the concentration range 75 µg to 1.5 mg of Te. The effect of pH, the nature of the solvent, interferences from various ions and other reaction conditions have been investigated.
