Iminoacetonitrile, an HCN dimer; I.R. identification in an argon matrix
Abstract
The E- and Z-forms of iminoacetonitrile, HNCH–CN, are formed by 308 nm photolysis of azidoacetonitrile in an Ar matrix at 11 K and identified by their i.r. spectra and the observed isotopic shifts in the 15N isotopomers; a previous claim of the formation of the corresponding isonitrile, HNCH–NC, is shown to be erroneous.
