Reaction of the anion [WCl4(CBut)] with tetrasulphur tetranitride. Formation and crystal structure of [AsPh4][WCl3O(OS2N2)]

Abstract

The reaction of [AsPh4][WCl4(CBut)] with S4N4 in dichloromethane leads to [AsPh4][WCl4(S2N3)], and, if traces of water are present, to the salt [AsPh4][WCl3O(OS2N2)]. The latter has been characterized by i.r. and u.v.-visible spectroscopy and by X-ray crystallography. It crystallizes in the triclinic space group P[1 with combining macron] with a= 8.077(1), b= 12.675(2), c= 13.480(2)Å, α= 88.49(1), β= 82.13(1), γ= 87.98(1)°, and Z= 2.
