Synthesis of anionic sandwich compounds: [Ti(η-C6H5R)2] and the crystal structure of [K(18-crown-6)(µ-H)Mo(η-C5H5)2]

Abstract

Treatment of Mo(µ-C5H5)2H2 with potassium hydride and 18-crown-6 gives the compound [k(18-crown-6)(µ-H)Mo(η-C5H5)2] whose crystal structure has been determined; the compounds Ti(η-C6H5R)2, R = H or Me undergo reduction with potassium metal to give the salts K+[Ti(η-C6H5R)2], R = H or Me.
