A boroxine-supported triosmium oxymethylidyne cluster system, [(µ-H)3(CO)9Os3CO]3(B3O3): its structure and its conversion into halogeno- and phenyl-methylidyne complexes
Abstract
From the hydroboration of the unsaturated cluster (µ-H)2Os3(CO)10 in the presence of tetrahydrofuran, a cluster system was prepared with boroxine (B3O3) supporting three triosmium units, which was shown to be a useful starting material in the synthesis of the triosmium methylidyne clusters, (µ-H)3(CO)9Os3(CCl), (µ-H)3(CO)9Os3(CBr), and (µ-H)3(CO)9Os3(CPh).
